CHRISTIAN SPRENGER

Born in Marburg in 1976, Christian Sprenger is professor of trombone at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar.

He gained his first musical experience at the age of 9 in his father's trombone ensemble, which is why he is still strongly rooted in church brass music today.

His musical talent led him to the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Frankfurt as a young student at an early age. Already at that time, Christian Sprenger successfully took part in various youth music competitions and in 1995 he emerged as the national winner in the trombone section of the "Jugend musiziert" competition.

In May 2000, while still studying music at the Musikhochschule Freiburg with Professor Branimir Slokar, he earned the position of 1st solo trombonist at the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin.

This was followed by teaching assignments as a lecturer for trombone and brass chamber music at the University of Magdeburg. In 2003 Christian Sprenger founded the brass ensemble "Genesis Brass", of which he is still the musical director and for which he has arranged and composed numerous works.

Since 2010, Christian Sprenger has been professor of trombone at the Weimar University of Music. In addition to his work as a teacher, he composes and arranges for a wide variety of instrumentations. His work focuses on composing chorale arrangements and chorale fantasies for symphonic orchestra, wind ensemble and symphonic wind orchestra. To this day, he is closely associated with church wind music through publications and workshops. Numerous CD productions have already been recorded with his brass ensemble "Genesis Brass", the "Staatskapelle Weimar" and the "Sächsische Bläserphilharmonie".

For decades Professor Sprenger has trusted the Stradivarius trombones of Vincent Bach and plays the model 42B as a lecturer, soloist and ensemble musician. With their unique sound, the Vincent Bach instruments enable him to achieve his desired musical development.
